A Different Saturday

Cousin Robert’s visiting from Vancouver. After visiting mother at GT Heritage, I took him shopping. As it was already afternoon, I commented that the malls would be jam packed with people and that it would be hard to find parking. He asked “Why don’t we take the Skytrain?” (Vancouver’s Skytrain is the equivalent of our LRT.) Now that’s something new to me.

As a car owner, that’s my main mode of transport. I’d never consider going anywhere by taxi or bus. Well, maybe the taxi but that’s when my car’s in the workshop or something. As a result, when I go shopping, I go to the one nearest where I am, unless it’s something that is not available at the nearest mall, but then these days, every mall has about the same type of shops, etc. I also prefer to go quite early, too, so I don’t get stressed looking for parking. But I digress …

So, yes, in the end, we took the Sky … er, LRT to KLCC. He got what he wanted almost as soon as we stepped into KLCC, after which we walked around, and finally ended up at Kinokuniya. There we went separate ways, each to look at what interests us (which is not necessarily the same so it was best not to stay together), agreeing to meet up again at a certain time. When we met up again, surprise! neither of us bought anything. Our resistance is getting stronger.

From KLCC, we went on to Low Yat Plaza. And bought some stuff. At the end of our shopping “spree”, we were both tired and decided to take a taxi back to where I’d left my car. The original plan was to take the Monorail and LRT. At 5:30 p.m. on a hot Saturday afternoon, the last thing I wanted to do was walk to get a train, and be crammed in a moving carriage with strangers. So we took a taxi. At that time of day, traffic was not too bad and we got back to mother’s just before they sat down to dinner.

After their dinner, we waited as I had to meet with the night nurse to discuss mother’s latest medication. We finally left at around 8:00 p.m. and went to dinner. After which, it was off to One Utama to walk a bit while waiting for his nephew and wife to fetch him (he’s staying with them).

Okay, nothing significant, just another rambling post. Wait, I think what I wanted to say was that it was a different Saturday from my usual Saturdays as I got to spend it with someone plus I got to use a different type of transport than what I’m normally used to.

Yah, rambling, and going off-topic on myself.
