Saw this at Mellowbug’s blog, and altho I’ve seen it before, I always enjoy reading it again and again and again and …
| Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!” |

The other day, I listed out my gadgets, past and present. It’s quite a long (and impressive) list. I might post it up one day, but right now, I just want to mention the ones I’m using the most these days.
In order of use:
Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 30GB (MP3 player)
|
| I use this everyday to and fro work. My only regret is that the drive is so short. Sometimes, I actually wish for a traffic jam, a red light or something, so I can listen to more of the songs on the list playing at the time! Acoustic Alchemy accompanied me on the drive to work this morning. |
Palm Zire 72 (PDA)
|
| The one application I use the most on my Z72 is On-Time-Rx®, a Palm OS™ Medication Reminder Application that palmdoc beamed to me about a month ago. It was a trial version that expired a couple of days back, and I’ve since bought a licence for it, that’s how important it is to me. I use it to remind me to take my lupus and other related meds. When I don’t, the Z72 battery dies after a while as the alarm reminder keeps the app open and does not shut down, which drains the battery, so in order to make sure it doesn’t happen, I remember to heed the reminder! It’s a good application. Apart from this, I also use my Z72 to read ebooks in both eReader and iSilo formats. Both are registered copies. |
AlphaSmart Dana (Palm powered laptop alternative)
|
| My writing companion. It’s the machine I’d been dreaming of ever since my first Palm and first AlphaSmart back in 1998. I wanted something that lets me do all that a Palm PDA does but with a full-sized keyboard to write on, too. AlphaSmart, Inc made my dream a reality in 2002. |
SE t68i (handphone, aka cellphone / mobile)
|
| For keeping in touch with family and friends. It’s so much a part of me, it shouldn’t be on this list of most frequently used gadgets, it should be in one all its own! |
Phoebe, my 12″ G4 PowerBook combo, has yet to make it to this list of most frequently used gadgets. Maybe if I travel more, she’ll get on the list.

A recent family upheaval has subsided. I now know where I stand.
On the outside.

The start of NaNoWriMo 2004 is less than five days away. To be honest, I haven’t done further preparation, most of it is still in my head. I really need to sit down and do a rough outline and list my characters before midnight, 1 November 2004.
There are a few Malaysians participating this year. Most of us are here in the Klang Valley, there’s at least one in Kuching, Sarawak. We even have an ML (municipal liaison) who has scheduled the first meet-up soon. Can’t wait to meet the other Malaysian NaNo participants. I’ve even offered to give a ride to one of them, someone I’ve never met before in my life!
Is that what LK means about me making friends easily?
Well, here again, there’s a shared interest – writing. I’ve also offered to meet up with the same person elsewhere so we can write together. Now, that’s something new. I’ve never written with someone before. What it means is we each get busy with our own NaNo script, but in the company of another NaNo participant. Sounds interesting. Looking forward to it.
