She blew into my life 14 years ago (where she’s remained to this day), singing “Luck in my eyes” during the “live” telecast of the 32nd Grammy Awards, and going on to win the Best Country Vocal Performance, Female that year for her album Absolute Torch and Twang. A memorable line from her acceptance speech – “This soil is fertile.”
To celebrate her birthday, I played that album on the way to work this morning. On my ZenX, of course.
Through her, I met other kd fans online, and on the strength of our shared interest in her, they opened their homes to me during my travels around the States in 1990/91. So yeah, thanks to kd, I got to see a fair bit of the States that time. Thanks, kd.
