A Cool Tool for Phoebe

The CoolPad by Road Tools.

Why is it cool?

Two things.

One

It has little risers on its four corners, the back ones higher that the front, which lift Phoebe at an angle away from the surface she is on.

This is important for me, because it means there’s air circulating under her, which I believe helps to keep her cool. Road Tools calls this heat dissipation, but all I care is Phoebe is kept cool.

Two

The CoolPad is actually two pieces of hard rubber joined together by a screw in the middle of the rubber. This allows it to swivel. And that’s important for me. Cuz if I’m sitting at an angle from Phoebe, I don’t have to adjust my position or lift her up (however slightly) to face me and then put her down again. I just push one of her corners towards me and she swivels effortlessly to face me. Which I find really cool.

My niece thinks so, too. I’d bought her the bundle, comprising the stay-at-home Podium, which is hers to use for her 15″ IBM Thinkpad, and the Traveller, which has been given to her father who travels quite a bit, so we thought he’d find it useful, too. Apparently, he does.

The Podium is the original CoolPad, with stackable risers (like lego blocks but round instead of square) you can add to make the back higher than the front:

The Traveller is smaller and meant for travelling, as its name suggests. Its risers are fixed:

According to the Road Tools website, the CoolPad works with all laptops, and is guaranteed for life.

It’s available in black or white. Mine’s black. I can imagine iBook users preferring the white. :D
