Sign of growing old
I was checking the Version Tracker web site during lunch when I found a software that I thought would help me with cascading style sheets. So I downloaded and installed the software. But the first time it opened, there was a message that the computer screen resolution had to be set at 1,024×768.
Now, I’ve been using 800×600 screen resolution for a long time. But for the sake of learning a new software, I set the computer to 1,024×768. Initially, everything was fine, my eyes adapted to the smaller images quite fast. However, after an hour or so looking at the new screen resolution, I began to feel an ache in my eyes and back of my head. Finally had to concede defeat and return to the bigger 800×600 resolution.
It’s my eyes. After years of abuse – reading in the dark, especially – they aren’t what they used to be. For sure, they can’t view the finer 1,024×768 resolution. 800×600 is fine. I should be grateful I don’t have to downgrade to 640×480!
But the strange thing is I have no problems with Phoebe’s 12″ screen which shows 1,024×768 by default. Maybe it’s the smaller screen that makes it easier on my poor 40-something eyes?
