Believe me when I tell you that these days, I love nothing more than talk about Janis Ian, especially introducing friends to her music.
So, when I saw David online early (early!) this morning, the conversation somehow veered to Ms Ian, and I asked him to come here and listen to the song I’d earlier uploaded for Peter.
Initially, he wasn’t keen. But when I said the song featured some good guitar playing, his ears literally pricked up and he said he was listening.
You see, David is a guitarist, so he was soon asking about whether all her songs are like the one he just heard … “guitar and lyrics” .
Well, one thing led to another, and I decided to upload another Janis Ian song for him, one with strong guitar work in it.
“Dead Man Walking” is the song that opened her show in Singapore three weeks ago. Let me tell you – I’ll never be able to hear this song again without remembering the show, and especially the way she walked on stage strumming her guitar.
