Toothless

My father called me at work yesterday to ask about a new tablet given by the doctor.

BTW, his lung infection is back, this time in the form of pleurisy in his left lung, and he’d been on two types of tablets this past week which have helped to clear the pleurisy. At the latest doctor’s visit, a third tablet was added, and this was the one he called to ask about yesterday.

“It’s the big and flat one,” he went on to describe the tablet before asking, “am I supposed to chew it?”

Yes, I told him, as it’s for “wind” (Chinese term for acid), which is what Dr R thinks one of the other two tablets may have given father.

“But how to chew?” Father asked. “I have no teeth.”

Which is true. He’s been losing his teeth until there’s no more left, and altho he had dentures made, he never liked wearing them, so there.

Maybe I’ll ask Dr R to give the acid med in liquid form at the next visit, lah.
