Made it through the night

Posted on 14 April 2005 @ 23:41 in Family

There was a phone call I dreaded getting last night. Thank God it never came.

Father has been warded in ICU, and last night was critical. But he pulled through.

However, the doctor has said the next 24 to 48 hours are actually more critical. We can only wait.

My cousin James came to visit and started to tear when he saw my father lying shrunken and helpless on the bed with various tubes going into him. My brother had to console him.

If I sound indifferent, I’m not. I just have loads of confidence in Him who brought us here and brought us thus far.

On my car’s front windscreen

This is what I see from my seat in my Nissan Sunny Extra:

Left – Janis Ian’s Rude Girl logo sticker from fellow Rudie Karen
Right – FONZ membership sticker from Washington, DC’s National Zoo

And if you’re outside looking in, this is what the two stickers look like:

Well, not exactly. You’ll see the car’s interior (steering wheel, etc.) instead of the trees and blue sky. This is just a reverse of the first picture.

I know, I’m not making much sense.

Home alone (again)

Posted on 13 April 2005 @ 00:38 in Family

Father’s staying the night at my sister’s. He’s down with pneumonia (again; right lung this time) and will be admitted back at the same medical centre in the morning. My brother’s flying back on an early flight to help my sister get him admitted, after which he will keep him company during the stay.

Mother, of course, is at GT Heritage.

So I’m home alone again.

Father’s where he is tonight because if he’s here in such familiar surroundings, he will be absorbed in his usual night routine which is partly responsible for the pneumonia’s return. At my sister’s, he’s not. So he’s gone to bed early.

Not making much sense. Not much mood to do my lines either. Maybe I’ll post a picture tomorrow.

Mating season for the giant pandas

Sounds like there’s going to be pitter-patter of little panda paws at the San Diego Zoo at the end of this year:

(04-09) 17:34 PDT SAN DIEGO, (AP) –

Giant pandas Gao Gao and Bai Yun retired to their favorite spot under a few bushes and mated over the past two days, marking the only successful natural insemination of a panda this year in the United States, San Diego Zoo officials said Saturday.
