Can’t get this out of my head
You know how sometimes a song gets into your head, and won’t leave? Most times, it’s something irritating. Well, I’ve had this song going on in my head for a while now, but it’s not irritating at all. How can anything by Janis Ian be irritating?
I posted about it on the Janis Ian Message Board, and received some favourable comments about it. david uk calls it “very catchy with some excellent lyrics” , while furskybear says the song’s appeal is its “happy heart beat” sound that “does get inside of you.”
For some reason, the song reminds me of that Sinead O’Connor song “Nothing compares 2 u” , although in a happier, almost teeny-bopper way. In fact, a most un-Janis Ian song, but I’m not complaining.
Why don’t you have a listen and tell me what you think?
Oh, the name of the song? “House without a Heart” . Listen to it here.
Example of its excellent lyrics:
“I miss you more than yesterday
more than words can say
more than hands can pray”
And:
“The heart you are holding now
is on its knees”
“House without a Heart”
