Wimbledon 2005

It’s going to be a repeat of the 2000 Wimbledon Women’s Singles Final this year, with the same two finalists, Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams. Venus may have been the winner that year, but the one single memory I took away from that game was the way Lindsay acknowledged defeat. The smile on her face as she shook Venus’s hands and congratulated her was both gracious and genuine.

I don’t know about this evening’s match, except that it should be exciting.

Apart from tennis, there’s also going to be music – lots of music! – tonight. Astro is telecasting Live8 on channel 88. Annie Lennox is scheduled to appear in the London concert. I hope I get to see her perform. She’s always been one of my favourite singers.

And then, sometime tomorrow, the Animal Planet channel will be showing a documentary on my favourite animal, the giant panda. Dunno what time yet, but I’ll check the Astro web site in a moment.

Meanwhile, I’m all set for a night in front of the telly with the two most important ingredients – a big bottle of Vanilla Coke and a big bag of Ngan Yin Groundnuts.
