Panda Weblog
When Hua Mei was born in August 1999, the panda team at the San Diego Zoo posted updates on the main page of the Giant Panda web site. This is what the team at the National Zoo is currently doing.
Net technology has moved on since 1999, and now the San Diego Zoo panda team is using a weblog for updates about the latest addition to their giant panda family. And guess what? The updates are more frequent, at least one a day. Of course, it helps that more than one person is posting, but I think the “secret” to the more frequent updates is the weblog’s set-up, which takes care of formatting, so that all the poster has to do is log into a new entry page, start typing, preview, then post.
I’m also very glad to see that the weblog software used for the Panda Weblog is WordPress.
Oh, here’s the link to the weblog:

The National Zoo’s “weblog” is here:

Hopefully, they’ll follow the San Diego Zoo panda team’s example and set up a proper weblog soon.
