The green bar appears when a participant passes the 50,000-word count and updates it on their profile at the NaNoWriMo site.
The purple bar appears after the word count is validated by the NaNoWriMo site’s word count validator.
I’d written all my 2005 NaNovel on my AlphaSmart Dana, saving each day’s writing as an individual file. I’d then uploaded and combined all the individual files in RoughDraft on my desktop computer. Both my Dana and RoughDraft counted the same number of words in my 2005 NaNovel - 50,337. NaNoWriMo’s word count validator counted it at 50,625, which is 288 words more than what my Dana and RoughDraft counted.
Here’s my 2005 NaNoWriMo certificate:

Habis!
The End?
Actually, no. The story is far from over. It’s just that I’ve fufilled the 50,000-word requirement.
I’m going to celebrate with the first season of Quantum Leap this weekend.
And yes, I will continue writing my 2005 NaNovel until 23:59, 30 November 2005. After which, still write it if it’s not finished yet.
