Malaysian NaNoWriMo 2005 Stats

Posted on 1 December 2005 @ 21:13 in Writing

We had 109 active participants who wrote a total of 2,772,398 words.

Of these, 39 wrote past the 50,000-word requirement and validated their word count before 23:59, 30 November 2005, accounting for 2,019,485, or 72.84253%, of the total Malaysian word count. This is more than double the winning numbers for last year’s NaNoWriMo.

Can you tell I’m bored now that NaNoWriMo 2005 is over?

Actually, 40 Malaysian participants wrote past the 50,000-word requirement, but winterman05, who also wrote the most number of words (78,340 words) did not validate his word count before the deadline, and so was not included in the winners’ list, nor did he get his purple bar or winner’s certificate. But in our eyes, he’s still a winner, as are everyone who signed up for NaNoWriMo 2005, whether they actually wrote something or not. The intention was there; next year, they’ll sign up and write something.

Congratulations, everyone!

A round of applause for every Malaysian NaNoWriMo 2005 participant
