Recharging my writing energy
I haven’t written much since NaNoWriMo 2005 ended on 30 November. I tried – my 2005 NaNovel isn’t finished yet, and I have ideas to continue it, but the words haven’t been flowing as they did in November.
Then I met a group of fellow NaNoers this evening, and suddenly my writing energy is recharged!
Who did I meet?
Jha’Meia, home for Christmas, and, and … SO cute!
Leian and her boyfriend’s brother. Leian is the one who asked on the Malaysian forum if she could come along for the first meet-up even though she wasn’t participating. Well, looked what happened to her – after some “gentle” persuasion, she not only signed up, but she wrote past 50K words. What’s more, she even changed the title of her NaNovel somewhere (sometime?) during the month.
Scribbles and her boyfriend. Scribbles ordered a frozen banana on a stick which prompted lots of comments. Hard act to follow, but Jha did it when she offered her cherry to Leian’s boyfriend’s brother.
Jha’s brother joined us later. So that made 7 in a party that we were quite worried that few would show up because we posted about it on the forum that has been pretty much deserted since 30 November.
The NaNoers among us had a great time talking about writing. Jha had brought along her home-made plot bunny notebook to show us. Scribbles dug hers out of her bag; we found out she had more than one when a second came out at the end of dinner to tote up everyone’s share. Even Leian had hers, too, in her PDA. Me? None, not even my Dana which is supposed to go everywhere with me.
I enjoyed the evening tremendously. Talking to them – no, listening to them talk – about writing has somehow recharged me. It’s also made me realised how I’ve neglected my writing since 30 November.
Oh sure, I write everyday, but it’s part of my job. This kind of writing, I’ve not done since 30 November. Time to start again, and not wait for 1 November 2006.
