New Digs, New Beginning

I saw the sun rise on the way to work this morning. It was a new route, one that’s from my new place of residence.

I had expected to wake up wondering where I was, but instead I found myself wondering where I’d put my shoes. I remember bringing them along but not putting them in the shoe cupboard. So I got up to check, and the shoe cupboard was empty!

That’s my one and only pair of shoes for work. What was I going to do? Back in the old house was a pair which is more for casual weekend wear. Well, if I didn’t have the work shoes, I had no choice but to go back to the house to get the weekend pair.

In the carpark, I checked the places I’d passed through between the car and the lift yesterday evening. And guess what? Stacked neatly against a pillar was … you guessed it … my work shoes. I’d put them in an orange plastic bag, which must have fallen off the trolley (subject of another post, probably) on my way to the lift. That meant not having to go to the old place to get the shoes. If I had, I would’ve missed seeing the sun rise.

Guess Who was behind it all this morning? If you said the Lord, you’re absolutely right.

I got caged

But I’m not complaining, cuz sharing my cage are the two cousins, Tai Shan (National Zoo, Washington, DC) and Su Lin (San Diego Zoo).

Thanks, Rick (aka Gigglepottomus on the Janis Ian Forum)!

It’s ready. Most everything has been moved in. Except for the human occupant (me).

When they were young

I dreamt of mother last night, a very young mother (well, maybe not that young but at least from 30 to 40 years ago).

Somewhere in the dream, too, father was present, also a young father.

I know where that dream came from. In the midst of decluttering and packing yesterday evening (more the former, less the latter), I came across some photographs, stopped to look at them (failed second rule of decluttering - do not stop and look), and they were of my parents when they were younger.
