Two wonderful weeks
London (12:56, 22 April 2006)
It’s exactly 10 days since my last post. I’m still in England - another 9 hours or so before I head home. It’s two weeks since I flew here on 8 April, and to me, these two weeks have been the perfect length of time for this trip. I’m ready to head home, back to my own space, back to my routine, and back among my family. I’m not wishing I could stay longer, mainly because I’ve done all I came to do on this trip, and more!
I took lots of pictures but cannot find one that sums up these past two weeks. This one comes the closest:
The white-haired lady in the blue top standing next to me is none other than the reason for the past 14 days in England …
Janis Ian
The picture was taken after her concert in Brighton on Monday, 17 April 2006 (held in a theatre-turned-cinema so the acoustics was good). She’d just spent time meeting fans and signing lots of autographs, and agreed to a quick group shot. Except after the first shot, she told Philip, her co-manager, to take one more, “just in case” . He ended up taking two more because for the second shot, some of us in the group had moved and he took a third after everyone had regrouped. This is the third of the three shots.
Thanks, Janis, for taking the time to pose with us, despite having to get up real early the next morning to drive to your next gig in Newcastle.
More pictures and more stories when I get home.
