Somebody’s turning 1 today
No, not Tai (he turned one 3 weeks ago), but his cousin Su Lin at the San Diego Zoo.

| Happy Birthday to Su Posted at 8:31 am August 1, 2006 by Suzanne Hall Su Lin’s first birthday is tomorrow, and the Zoo is celebrating by providing her with a custom-made birthday cake. For past cubs, the cake has been an ice sculpture, often with fruit frozen into the layers of the cake. Some enterprising Zoo employees once fashioned birthday candles out of bamboo and added flame-like pieces of yam on top. It is always neat to see what our staff dream up for events such as this! The party starts at about 8:30 a.m. PST, and we will have a Meerkat volunteer on hand to control the Panda Cam, so you Su Lin fans out there should be able to peek in on the festivities. We are pleased to see yet another panda cub reach its first birthday here in San Diego! Suzanne Hall is the senior research laboratory technician for the Giant Panda Conservation Unit of the Applied Animal Ecology Division/CRES. |
