This was a poem I had tacked on the front door of my 1st year dorm room at university:
I’M nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us—don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know. How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!Emily Dickinson (1830–86)
I love it for its declaration of anonymity. That’s all. Move along. Nothing else to see here.
