Someone’s two years old today!
When he was born, he was hairless and pink all over, hardly bigger than a stick of butter, blind and completely dependent on his mother. Now he’s a whopping 148 lbs (as of 18 June 2007) of a big boy giant panda cub turned toddler, nicknamed SuperPanna by his adoring aunties and uncles around the world. Along the way, he’s sprouted black and white fur all over his body, grown bigger by the day, learned panda living skills from his mother, played with her, wrestled with her, learned to climb, taken falls in his stride, fell many feet onto a hard floor, yelped at his mother, accepted her reassuring hugs, got a million baths, turned one, more of the same, got bigger still, continued to wow his aunties and uncles from around the world, left home (got weaned from his mother), learned to live on his own, continued to be cute and adorable and to climb, and eat, and sleep and look cute, and now he’s two.
Happy Birthday, Tai Shan, son of Tian Tian and Mei Xiang, of the National Zoo, Washington, DC, US of A!
Thank you, “little one”, for bringing together strangers from around the world. Because of you, strangers are now friends!
To commemorate his 2nd birthday, here are some screencaps, followed by my favourite picture taken of him during my visit in November 2006.
